(S04) Symposium Lunch - Matching Clinical Assessment to Convexity Characteristics: Results of a Multisite, International, Prospective Product Evaluation in Three Countries

Date: Sunday, June 1, 2025
Time: 12:20 PM to 1:50 PM
Room: Crystal Ballroom - Salon K
Track: Ostomy
Session Type: Level: Symposia Session, Level: Live Streaming

Description

This session will focus on the practical implementation of convexity in clinical practice through a review of outcomes from a multisite, international, prospective product evaluation in three countries. First, scientific data comparing 33 different soft convex products will be reviewed to understand how convex characteristics may vary between products. Then, attendees will learn how to match clinical assessment findings to key convex characteristics through case studies from ostomy nurses in different countries. Further, the results of over 1600 evaluations of a new ostomy technology will be presented.

This session is supported by Convatec.
(This activity is not accredited for nursing contact hours)

Learning Outcome

  • 1. Describe 3 reasons that soft convex products vary in their construction and how this impacts clinical performance from a recent scientific study
    2. Discuss the results of an international, multisite product evaluation from the perspective of ostomy nurses and persons with an ostomy
    3. Identify 3 clinical considerations when assessing the person with an ostomy for the appropriate pouching system.
