(GS1) Mikel Gray Lecture: Applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) to WOC Nursing Practice: Lessons Learned and Insights Gained

Date: Sunday, June 1, 2025
Time: 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM
Track: Professional Practice
Session Type: General Session

Description

Artificial intelligence (AI) has rapidly changed how the world acquires and uses all types of information. Clinicians, including WOC nurses are vulnerable to the volume and accuracy of clinical information that AI can produce. But how is AI currently being applied to WOC practice and can the WOC nurse trust AI generated information? This presentation will address these questions and will introduce the WOC nurse to the basic concepts of AI. The presenters will take the audience through their journey to understand and apply an explainable AI to a review of the evidence on pressure injury prevention. The AI generated response to the topic will be compared to what is known by content experts and from current literature. The lessons learned and insights gained from this project will be discussed along with the potential future applications and limitations of AI in WOC practice.
