(403) Convexity in Ostomy Care: Measurement of Convex Barrier Characteristics: The Case of Flexibility and Compressibility
Date: Tuesday, June 3, 2025
Time: 1:10 PM to 1:40 PM
Time: 1:10 PM to 1:40 PM
Track: Ostomy, Professional Practice
Session Type: Concurrent Session
Description
A transdisciplinary panel of engineers, industry partners, marketing personnel, and clinical experts conducted a consensus conference in 2024 and determined standardized measurement methods for three characteristics of convexity: depth, slope, and tension location. This session completes the picture by describing processes used to determine standardized measurement approaches for flexibility and compressibility.

Learning Outcome
The learner will describe five characteristics of convexity (depth, slope, tension, flexibility, and compressibility) and suggested methods for standardized measurement of them with clinical implications.
