(312) The Skin Has Erupted! Navigating Skin Rashes
Time: 4:40 PM to 5:40 PM
Description
WOC nurses are frequently consulted regarding various dermatologic conditions. There are inflammatory, infectious, malignant and drug related skin eruptions that can range from mild morbidity to mortality. Awareness of the clinical features associated with these skin eruptions can assist with developing a differential diagnosis list and subsequent management plan to aid in diagnosis and management. Timely initiation of appropriate referrals or the beginning of therapy can protect against lasting dysfunction or even death. Clinicians should feel confident in their ability to assess benign to more life threatening dermatologic conditions. In this session, attendees will learn how to assess, develop differential diagnosis and identify when patients need an dermatology consultation. An overview of the management of select inflammatory, infectious, and malignant skin eruptions will be covered.
