(202) I Have An Ostomy, Where Can I Go?: Challenges of Setting Up An Ostomy Clinic

This session focuses on models of practice and achieving a successful ostomy clinic. With the prevalence of ostomy care moving towards outpatient/post-acute ambulatory settings it can raise challenges for our ostomy patients. We will discuss providers including both WOC nurses and WOC advanced practice nurses within various styles of ostomy clinics. The focus will be on understanding the styles of clinics, settings and how to achieve success in setting up a clinic or participating as a provider. We will review starting a new ostomy clinic and how coding and billing may be affected depending on type of clinic and provider. This will be an interactive session where participants may both offer suggestions, as well as ask questions regarding specific aspects of an ostomy clinic.
